Product Overview
Titanium dioxide (TiO₂) is an important white inorganic pigment.
From the physical properties, it is a white solid or powdery substance with a high refractive index, which gives it a good hiding ability and can effectively mask the base color of the coated object. It has a true density of about 3.9 - 4.2 g/cm³ and a high melting point of around 1843°C.
In terms of chemical properties, titanium dioxide is chemically stable, almost does not react with other substances at room temperature, and shows good resistance in general acid, alkali and other chemical environments,which is slightly soluble in alkali and hot nitric acid, and only completely soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid and hydrofluoric acid under long boiling conditions. It has the characteristics of amphoteric oxides, and can exhibit the properties of alkaline oxides under strong fusion acidic conditions and acidic oxides under strong alkaline conditions.
It has two main crystal structures: anatase type and rutile type. Rutile titanium dioxide has better stability and optical properties and is more widely used. It has applications in many industrial fields such as coatings, plastics, papermaking, inks, etc., and is one of the whitest substances in the world, providing excellent whiteness and brightness.

Strong hiding power: It has excellent hiding ability, which can effectively cover the color of the bottom layer, and is widely used in coatings, cosmetics and other fields.
High hardness: 6 - 7 on the Mohs scale, which is comparable to the hardness of feldspar, which makes it potentially useful in some wear-resistant materials.
High melting point: The melting point is around 1843°C, which allows it to remain stable at high temperatures.
Good stability: The chemical properties are stable, and it is difficult to react with common substances such as water, acid (except for concentrated sulfuric acid), alkali and so on at room temperature.
Amphoterior: It is both an acidic oxide and a basic oxide, and can exhibit different chemical properties in different acid-base environments. For example, titanium salts can be formed in strong acids, and titanates can be formed in strong bases.
Strong UV absorption: It can absorb ultraviolet rays, especially those with a wavelength of 380 - 400nm, so it plays an important role in sunscreen products, plastic films and other materials that require UV resistance.
